HOW TO KILL TIME
ON LESSON AT SCHOOL?
In 1969, when I studied in the 9th grade of the Soviet, average in all
has not yet been invented personal computers,
there were no cell phones, there were no calculators. And some school
the objects of that time were different special, sophisticated, finished
to the level of the Inquisition, the form of submission of the material
and especially its
content. What was worth, for example, "socialist realism" in the
lessons of literature and "congresses of the CPSU" in history lessons.
"Poor schoolchildren" with a normal psyche, not clouded on the fallen
on them a stream of information, amused themselves at these lessons as best they could.
We did not have much technical capacity for this: a notebook with
sheets, lined in a box and a pen.
I bring to your attention several entertaining tasks
, at the core
which is the chess board. Play it on a paper sheet
in a cell it is possible for a few seconds, to allocate black cells at
This is not necessary.
The task is as follows: A chess horse must bypass all 64 cells
chessboard, while on every square he must stop
just one time. The starting cell is arbitrary.
Draw a rectangle of 64x64 cells on paper and number each
the passed cage. Good luck to you!
ON THE CHESSBOARD
This is an ancient task. It is based on a well-known legend:
The powerful Shah, famous for his love of chess,
He offered many travelers to play a game of chess with him, at a price
which was the life of the player. Many heads flew away in this city, while
play with the Shah did not agree with a certain young man who for his victory
asked the shah for a grain of wheat in the following quantities:
One grain of a chessboard is put on one grain of wheat,
the second - 2, the third - 4, the fourth - 8, and so on put
grain to all 64 cells, doubling the number of grains with each step.
The unsuspecting shah agreed with the conditions and lost.
History is silent about what happened next in this city, but
The task of determining the total number of grains won was
classical. It was included in the programming course for schoolchildren
already in the 80 years of the last century.
However, even now, armed with calculators accurately calculate
the total number of grains on the chessboard is not at all simple.
And in 1969, calculate their number, having at hand only a sheet
paper in the cage and pen was incredibly difficult. All participants
This "insane" entertainment results were very different.
Try it yourself b> on some "interesting" event,
or on the road, where there is nothing more to do.
The total amount of grain is striking when you try to evaluate its weight.
The grain mass is comparable to the mass of the Earth.
